Visual Findings:

The common or brown rat has bownish fur on its back and is grey underneath. Length is approx 200-270mm
with a tail of around 150-200mm.

Habitat Findings:

Common rats live in any situation that provides them with water, food and shelter. In homes they make for loft spaces, wall
cavities, cellars or under floorboards.

Consumption Findings:

Again like the mouse their favourite food is cereal products but they will eat anything.

Extra Information:

Most of the damage they do is by gnawing and ripping open packets. They also foul food with urine and droppings.
They also transmit many diseases to humans, such as Salmonellosis and Weils disease. Rats will eat or contaminate food intended
for humans and its estimated that up to 5% of food produced world wide is lost through rodent activity.
