Visual Findings:

Adult fleas are normally 1-4mm long brownish in colour, without wings but very powerful legs which are
adapted for jumping. Female fleas can live up to 2 years during which time they can lay up to 1000 eggs.

Habitat Findings:

Fleas live exclusively as parasites of warm-blooded animals. The female lay their eggs close to or on the
infested animal. Wall to wall carpets are also an ideal enviroment.

Consumption Findings:

Larvae feed on debris and adult flea droppings, where as the adult flea feeds soley on blood

Extra Information:

Although not all people are effected by flea bites, the bites can produce inflamed
dark red spots and can cause severe irritation in some people.
